With everything going on in the world at the moment surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, offices and places of work are very different from what they used to be. Stations for hand sanitising, social distancing measures, countertop screens and protective masks have all become the norm for many of us at work in such a short space of time.

It’s become so important for businesses to have these various Coronavirus precautionary methods in their stores to limit the spread of this virus. Hand sanitiser is now available in the vast majority of businesses to ensure people aren’t passing on germs with their hands. With businesses purchasing hand sanitiser bulk, they can ensure that they don’t run out of hand sanitiser for a while. Although, even if they did, it’s fairly easy for businesses to find some. Generally speaking, antibacterial hand gel has been fairly accessible throughout and it has been possible to buy things like countertop screens from suppliers such as Versare. But many of our customers have found the supply of face masks a challenge during the COVID19 outbreak, with suppliers directing their stock to the NHS in support of the fight against the COVID19 pandemic.

Also vital to the fight against COVID19 is the supply of food to our supermarkets nationwide and the need for appropriate precautions to be taken in the manufacturing process in factories. People still have to go out to the supermarkets to purchase essentials, so it’s important that manufacturing factories are producing enough food for people. When people go to these supermarkets, they have to wear facemasks to prevent the spread of the virus. Many outlets sell face masks, and patrons can even get custom face masks, which ensures that the elderly and those who are high-risk can feel more comfortable going into shops. However, if they ever experience respiratory issues, they can always visit their local healthcare center. Doctors and other health professionals have access to portable ultrasounds, from websites like https://www.butterflynetwork.com/covid-19, that help them to check on people’s lungs. This gives them peace of mind.

Supplying CE Approved face masks to the food industry

The shortage has led Thor Foods to rally our support in finding a solution to the shortage. We’re pleased to announce that we have located a supply of CE Approved face masks to EN 149 standard that will help to support our supply chain to continue food production within their factories, safely. The first 100,000 have already been delivered successfully confirming our confidence in these uncertain times – which we can pass on to you.

Fact: CE marking is a certification mark that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area.

The CE marking is also found on products sold outside the EEA that have been manufactured to EEA standards.

This European Standard specifies minimum requirements for filtering half masks as respiratory protective devices to protect against particles except for escape purposes. Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.

“We need to act collectively with urgency and solidarity. Which is why we sought the supply of face masks for our customers. At Thor Foods we are doing everything possible to support our customers through this difficult trading period – this includes sourcing items that we wouldn’t otherwise supply.”

Comments Catherine Arden, Director.

“Costs are dependent on the volume ordered, so we encourage those interested to get in touch to request a quotation. MOQ is 3,000 units, comprising of 300 packs per carton and 10 masks per pack.”

Adds Lesley Hanson, Technical Director.

We’re expecting high demand, with a lead time of 7-10 days from the date of order, although this will be confirmed upon receipt of order.

Thor Foods operational capacity through the COVID19 outbreak

Although restrictions are in place, Thor Foods are trading as normal and fulfilling orders with some extended lead times. We are following the government health advice to make sure our employees are safe and have put in place all necessary measures to ensure advice given by the government is followed by everyone.

“We would like to thank all our customers for supporting us in these uncertain times and we wish everyone stays safe especially those on the frontline in the NHS who we send our deepest gratitude.”

Adds Catherine.
